- How many movies do you watch?
The answer to that question will guide you on the first step in choosing a plan. If you only watch a few movies in a month, you should look at the lower-cost plans that allow less rentals. Most plans allow for unlimited rentals during a month, but are limited in how many movies you can have out at any one time. Allowing for a few days for replacements, the practical limit is dictated by this "at-a-time" number. The more movies you want to be able to watch, the higher this number should be in the plan you choose. Most plans allow for 1, 2, 3, and 4 movies at a time. With the 3 and 4 at a time plans, you'll always have a steady stream of movies ready to watch.
- What are your viewing habits?
If you watch only one movie in a several day timespan and can plan your movie viewing several days in advance, then you can probably do fine with one of the plans that allow only one movie out at a time and save some money. If your viewing schedule is less structured and/or you watch more than one movie in a night or in a few days like a weekend, you'll want to have a plan that keeps you stocked with two or more movies at a time. The more you watch and the less planned your movie viewing is, the more movies you're going to want to have out at one time. If this is you, you should choose one of the plans that allows two or more movies out at a time. Regardless, after you watch a movie, get it in the mail the next day so you will always have another movie ready to go.
- How quickly do you need replacement movies?
If you're a last-minute kind of person, you'll want to minimize the time that it takes for the movie to get replaced. Most if this time is in the mail.
